Happy Tunes Media wraps principal photography on an innovative Hindi feature film combining cutting-edge pocket-camera technology, anamorphic optics, compelling performances and the vibrant landscapes of Kerala.

MUMBAI / CALICUT / KOCHI, India — In a significant milestone for independent filmmaking in India, Happy Tunes Media announces the completion of principal photography for Tattoo: The Grafika, an ambitious Hindi-language feature film that aims to challenge conventional filmmaking practices. The project is positioned as India’s first feature film shot entirely using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, demonstrating how compact camera technology and creative vision can come together to deliver a cinematic experience.

Directed and produced by Asokan P.K., with Madhu Kavil serving as Director of Photography, the film explores the possibilities of a new-age filmmaking approach. By combining the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 with specialised anamorphic lenses and filters from K&F Concept and Neewer, the production team sought to achieve a distinctive widescreen aesthetic while embracing the mobility and intimacy of a compact camera system.

Redefining the Possibilities of Cinematic Filmmaking

Traditionally, feature-film productions rely on large camera rigs, extensive equipment setups and substantial technical infrastructure. Tattoo: The Grafika takes a different approach, exploring how smaller, more agile equipment can support ambitious visual storytelling.

At the heart of this experiment is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, featuring a 1-inch sensor and a compact, stabilised camera design. Enhanced by specialised anamorphic optics and filters, the setup offered the filmmaking team greater flexibility in capturing performances, locations and visual details.

The approach was designed to combine technical efficiency with creative freedom, allowing the cinematography to embrace intimate framing, dynamic movement and the atmospheric beauty of real-world locations.

“We wanted to prove that creativity isn't bound by the size of your gear, but by the vision behind the lens. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3, enhanced by K&F Concept and Neewer optics, allowed us a level of intimacy and mobility that was previously impossible,” said Asokan P.K., Director and Producer of the film.

Through this production, the team hopes to encourage filmmakers and independent creators to explore innovative camera technologies without compromising their artistic ambitions.

A Strong Creative Team Behind the Film

Produced under the Happy Tunes Media banner, Tattoo: The Grafika brings together professionals across direction, cinematography, writing and creative development.

The film's principal creative team includes Asokan P.K. as Story Writer, Director and Producer; Sarthak Sharma and Asokan P.K. as Producers; Seven Raj as Co-Producer; Kishore Arjun as Creative Director; Madhu Kavil as Director of Photography; and Sulagna Chatterjee as Script and Dialogue Writer.

The collaboration brings together a shared vision of creating a visually distinctive Hindi feature film while experimenting with an unconventional production workflow.

Introducing a Fresh Ensemble of Talent

The film features Vani Vashisthh, Sanchay Shokeen and Prakash Banjare in the leading roles. Their performances form the central cast of a project that seeks to combine a contemporary visual identity with an engaging cinematic narrative.

The supporting ensemble includes Rajeev Shankar, Seven Raj, Vikas Kaslival and Rajeev Vashist, alongside child artist Master Ami.

With its combination of emerging talent and experienced creative contributors, the film aims to offer audiences a fresh cinematic experience while highlighting the collaborative effort behind independent feature filmmaking.

Kerala's Landscapes Provide a Stunning Backdrop

Principal photography was completed across March, April and June 2026, with filming taking place in Wayanad, Calicut and Kochi, Kerala.

From Wayanad's mist-covered mountains and lush landscapes to Calicut's coastal character and Kochi's vibrant urban atmosphere, the locations contribute to the film's visual identity. The production's compact camera setup enabled the team to work across varied environments while exploring a more flexible approach to cinematography.

Written by Sulagna Chatterjee, Tattoo: The Grafika promises a narrative-driven cinematic experience that brings together visual experimentation, emotional storytelling and distinctive locations.

An Electrifying Tattoo-Themed Dance Number

Adding another layer of visual energy to the film is an upcoming tattoo-themed dance number designed to deliver style, movement and a contemporary screen presence.

The song is choreographed by Sreejith Dancity, known for his work on large-scale international stages and choreography for Malayalam cinema artists. His signature approach brings together high-energy movements, expressive performance and a dynamic visual rhythm.

Cine actress Maria leads the performance, joined by two talented female dancers in a trio designed to create a vibrant and memorable screen spectacle.

In keeping with the film's distinctive aesthetic, the tattoo-themed sequence was shot inside a prominent tattoo studio in Kochi. Rather than relying on a conventional set or green-screen backdrop, the production used the studio's authentic atmosphere to establish an edgy, modern visual setting.

The sequence is expected to complement the film's broader creative identity, combining choreography, location-driven visuals and a contemporary tattoo-inspired theme.
