<p>On Day 3 of the 4th Test in Ranchi, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav had an outstanding display with the ball for India. Taking nine wickets between them, they bowled England out for 145 in their second innings. After Kuldeep claimed four wickets and Ashwin claimed a five-for, India managed to win the match by scoring 40 runs without causing any harm to the challenging but unimpressive goal of 192.</p>

<p>India’s day with the bat and with the ball was excellent. After being left reeling at 177/7 at one point yesterday, Dhruv Jurel produced a fantastic first half-century and was the last man to be removed on 90 to lead his side to 307-all out.</p>
<p>Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav (28 off 131) shared 76 runs for the eighth wicket, preventing England from taking a commanding lead in the first innings.</p>
<p>India gave up a 46-run advantage as they were knocked out for 307.</p>
<p>Given the performance of the surface, England would have liked to give India a difficult total. By taking two wickets in an over, including those of Ben Duckett (14) and Ollie Pope (0), Ashwin made sure it wasn’t to be.</p>
<p>When Ashwin trapped Joe Root LBW for 11, it was the body blow. After that, Zak Crawley led a brief comeback by smashing a resilient half-century and scoring 45 runs with Jonny Bairstow for the fourth wicket.</p>
<p>Ben Stokes (4) and Kuldeep Yadav cleaned up Crawley on 60 and 60, respectively. Following the tea break, Bairstow chipped the first ball to be caught for 30 off 42, and this time, the tail of England didn’t wag very long.</p>
<p>In order to complete his five-for, Ashwin removed James Anderson for a duck, matching the record held by the great Anil Kumble for the 35th time in Test cricket history.</p>
<p>After that, England needed a few quick wickets to tie the score.</p>
<p>Yashasvi Jaiswal (16*) and India skipper Rohit Sharma (24*) made sure that wasn’t the case either, as the opening combination quickly reached 40/0 in only eight overs.</p>
<p>India needs 152 more runs to win and take a commanding 2-1 lead in the five-match series with two days of play left, barring an incredible comeback from England.</p>
