A youth-led animal welfare organisation is drawing attention for its unconventional ground-level operations, including a night patrol initiative that fits cattle with reflective collars to reduce road accidents involving stray cows.
The Jeevdaya Foundation, founded on 14 June 2025 by 19-year-old digital creator Ronak Choudhary, has rescued injured, sick and abandoned animals across the region since its launch, according to the organisation. Its work centres primarily on cow welfare, with volunteers responding to reports of stranded or ailing cattle, arranging veterinary treatment and providing shelter.
A key part of the foundation’s operations involves volunteers patrolling roads after dark to tie radium reflective belts around the necks of stray cows. The collars make the animals visible to motorists, an effort the organisation says is aimed at reducing the frequent night-time collisions that injure or kill cattle and pose hazards to drivers on highways and rural roads.
The foundation has also expanded into broader humanitarian work, distributing food to underprivileged families, supplying blankets during the winter months, and providing emergency assistance to households in need.
Choudhary, who has built a following of more than three million on Instagram, has used the platform to publicise the foundation’s work and to advocate for cow protection and animal welfare. He has also participated in public demonstrations on cow welfare issues, calling for greater public and administrative attention to the treatment of stray and abandoned cattle.
The foundation’s work has been acknowledged publicly by film personalities including Suniel Shetty and Sonu Sood, both of whom have presented Choudhary with awards recognising his contributions to animal welfare and community service.
The organisation has said it intends to scale up operations in the coming months, with plans to extend rescue work to additional districts and to broaden its food and winter-relief distribution programmes. It has also called on volunteers and supporters to participate in field activities rather than limit engagement to online platforms.
